Artist’s Working in Education’s (A.W.E.) mission is to provide youth in the Milwaukee area with arts enrichment programs to enhance human potential, advance learning and cultivate community. Position Summary

We are seeking a part-time, Donor Stewardship & Marketing Manager to be an integral part of our team focused on sharing the impact of our work with community stakeholders and supporters.  The person will have primary responsibility for creating and sustaining systems to expand upon our individual donor, corporate donor, and special event income.

This person will report to the Executive Director.  This is a part-time, 25 hour per week position. Starting wage ranges from $20 – $23/hour depending on experience. Key Activities

This person will work closely with A.W.E.’s Executive Director and the Marketing & Fundraising Specialist in the following capacities.

Communicating: Implementing a communications strategy and developing content for multiple audiences to share the impact of our work through storytelling. Effectively communicate mission statement and accomplishments through presentations, networking events, general communications, and donor stewardship materials.

Strategic Thinking: Planning and implementing a comprehensive plan for all communication and development efforts to sustain A.W.E. programs, and deepen the organization’s impact in the Milwaukee community.  Set fundraising targets, researching funding opportunities, and identifying potential public and private revenue streams to support the work.  Monitor and report regularly on the success of A.W.E.’s donor stewardship efforts.

Fundraising: Building systems for donor cultivation and stewardship to expand A.W.E.’s capacity.  Creating a voice for A.W.E. programs and relaying it through presentations and donation asks.

 Building networks:  Initiating and engaging a wide range of partnerships to help build and support a long-term development strategy for A.W.E.

Skills Required: The ideal candidate has demonstrated success in donor cultivation and retention, building systems for donor stewardship, donor software experience, strong relationship building skills, and the ability to passionately communicate to a wide range of audiences.

 Other Key Characteristics:

Ability to construct, articulate, and implement an annual strategic development plan

Tangible experience gathering input and synthesizing it into meaningful, relevant communications for a wide range of audiences

Demonstrated commitment to social justice through previous employment and/or volunteer experience.

A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time

The ability to quickly get up to speed with the goals and be proactive about meeting those goals

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong presentation skills

An ease and comfort in working in collaborative teams and developing connections with people within A.W.E. and the Milwaukee community.

Strategic and judicious decision-making with diligent, consistent follow-through and attention to detail.

An interest or experience in arts education, neighborhood development, and/or youth development.

Graphic design skills and knowledge of design software preferred.


Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a subject area closely related to this role.

Three years’ work experience in a donor stewardship and marketing role.
