How the Application Process Works
Click here (or below) to download the word document version of the School Studio application for schools. You may fill the application out and mail to our office or contact mary@awe-inc.org to submit electronically.
Step 1: You receive or request an information packet from A.W.E. The packet includes a cover letter, sample school agreement, project ideas, and information about A.W.E. as well as the School Studio Program application.
Step 2: Envision the kind of creative experience you want for your students. Discuss ideas with your principal, other staff and faculty and even students!
Step 3: You submit an application. You can call or e-mail A.W.E. for assistance on any part of the application process.
Step 4: A.W.E. processes your application. The A.W.E. Program Coordinator reviews the application and forwards it to the School Studio Committee for approval. The A.W.E. Program Coordinator may conduct a site visit to learn more about your school.
Step 5: You will be notified of the decision within 4-5 weeks. If your application is accepted, the A.W.E. Program Coordinator will start the process by selecting artists and setting up a planning meeting.
Step 6: Planning Meeting. You and any other faculty or staff involved in the project, your principal, the A.W.E. Program Coordinator and the Artists meet to: Discuss the goals of the project. Go through paperwork (contracts, invoice, etc.). Identify the responsibilities of each partner. Discuss the scope and feasibility of project and logistics such as class schedule, space, supplies, budget, etc.
Step 7: Sign and send in your School Agreement and payment.
Step 8: Project begins! A.W.E. Program Coordinator, Executive Director, board members and outside observers make periodic visits to project site. A.W.E. Program Coordinator is always available to address any questions or concerns, call the office or send an e-mail!
Step 9: Celebration! You and your school community, including students, parents, faculty and staff, decide how best to celebrate the completion of the project with the artists and students.
Step 10: Reflect. The A.W.E. Program Coordinator will set up a time to conduct brief interviews with a representative number of participating students. Help us grow and improve by sharing your thoughts, comments, successes and suggestions.
